Mahatma's Well-महात्मा का कुआ

एक गांव मे धर्मदास नाम का कंजूस रहता था बातें बड़ी ही अच्छी करता था पर था वहां कंजूस हुआ किसी को पानी तक के लिए नहीं पूछता था साधु-संतों और भिखारियों को देखकर तो उसके प्राण ही सूख जाते थे कि कहीं कोई कुछ मांगना बैठे एक दिन एक महात्मा आया और धर्मदास से सिर्फ एक रोटी मांगे धर्मदास ने महात्मा को कुछ भी देने से मना कर दिया महात्मा ने खड़े रहे तब तक वह उन्हें आधी रोटी देने लगा आधी रोटी देखकर महात्मा ने कहा कि अब मैं तो आधी रोटी नहीं पेट भर खाना खा कर जाऊंगा इस पर धर्मदास  ने कहा कि अब वह कुछ नहीं देगा महात्मा रात भर चुपचाप खड़े रहे सुबह जब धर्मदास ने महात्मा को देखा तो सोचा कि अगर मैं इसे भरपेट खाना नहीं खिलाया और यह भूखे ही मर गया तो मेरी बदनामी होगी धर्मदास ने कहा कि बाबा तुम भी क्या याद करोगे तो पेट भर खाना खा लो पर अब महात्मा ने कहा मुझे खाना नहीं खाना मुझे तो एक कुआं खुदवा दो लो अब वह बीच में कुंआ धर्मदास ने महात्मा से आ गया धर्मदास ने महात से कहा धर्मदास ने कुआं खुदवाने से साफ मना कर दिया महात्मा वहीं खड़े रहे अगले दिन सुबह भी जब को भूखा प्यासा वहीं खड़ा पाया तो सोचा कि इस महात्मा के कारण तो बड़ी बड़ी बदनामी हो जाएगी धर्मदास नहीं काफी सोच विचार किया और कहा बाबा मैं एक कुआं खुदवा देता हूं और इससे आगे अब कुछ मत बोलना महात्मा ने फिर कहा कह दिया नहीं एक नहीं अब तो दो कुआ खुदवानी होंगे पढ़ेंगे महात्मा की फरमाइश बढ़ती जा रही थी मैं उदास नहीं सोचा कि अब मना किया तो यह कुछ भी बड़ा मांग लेगा धर्मदास ने चुपचाप बात मान ली कुआं तैयार हो गया अब महात्मा ने कहा दोनों में से एक कुआं और मैं तुम्हें देता हूं और एक अपने पास रख लेता हूं कुछ दिन के लिए कहीं जा रहा हूं मेरे मुंह से कोई पानी नहीं पिएगा साथी तुम्हें अपने को ऐसे सब गांव वालों को रोज पानी निकाल लेना है मैं वापस आकर इसका पानी पियूंगा धर्मदास और महात्मा वाले कुआं का मुंह पर एक मजबूत ढक्कन लगवा दिया 

सब गांव वाले रोज धर्म दास वाले कुएं से पानी भरने लगे पुणे से चाहे पानी जितना भी निकालते पर पानी कम ना होता गांव वाले निहाल हो गए थे महात्मा और शेर का खूब गुणगान करते 1 वर्ष बाद महात्मा फिर गांव में आए और धर्मदास से बोले कि दूसरा कुआ भी खोल दिया जाए धर्मदास ने ढक्कन हटवा दिया सभी यह देखकर हैरान रह गए कि कुएं में एक बूंद भी पानी नहीं था महात्मा ने कहा कुएं से जितना भी पानी क्यों न निकाला जाए वह कभी खत्म नहीं होता बढ़ता जाता है पर इसे इस्तेमाल ना करें तो वह सूख जाता है सर जाता है और किसी काम में नहीं आता मुंह के पानी की तरह ही ज्ञान है और धन दौलत की भी तीन गतियां होती हैं सदुपयोग नशा दुरुपयोग धन दौलत और ज्ञान का इस्तेमाल न करने पर कुएं के पानी की तरह वह निरर्थक पड़े रहते हैं !

In a village, there lived a miser named Dharmadas, used to do things very well, but there was a miser, he did not ask anyone for water, seeing the sages and beggars, his life used to dry up that somewhere someone sat asking for something. One day a Mahatma came and asked Dharamdas for only one roti. Dharamdas refused to give anything to the Mahatma. The Mahatma stood by, till then he started giving him half the bread. Seeing half the bread, the Mahatma said that now I am not eating half the bread. On this Dharamdas said that now he will not give anything. The Mahatma stood silent all night in the morning when Dharamdas saw the Mahatma, he thought that if I did not feed him enough food and he died of hunger, then I would be defamed. Dharamdas said Baba, what will you remember, then eat your stomach, but now the Mahatma said that if I do not eat food, then get me a well dug, now in the middle of the well Dharmadas came from the Mahatma. Clearly refused, the Mahatma stood there. The next morning, even when he was found standing there hungry and thirsty, he thought that this Mahatma's The reason will be a big infamy, Dharam Das did not think a lot and said, Baba, I dig a well and do not say anything beyond this, the Mahatma again said that not one, now two wells will be dug. I was not sad that now if I refuse, then it will ask for anything big. Dharmadas silently agreed, the well is ready, now the Mahatma said, one of the two wells and I give you and keep one with me for a few days. I am going somewhere for no one will drink water from my mouth, my friend, you have to take out water every day to all such villagers, I will come back and drink the water of Dharmadas and Mahatma put a strong lid on the mouth of the well

All the villagers started filling water from the well of Dharam Das every day, no matter how much water was removed from Pune, but the water would not decrease, the villagers were happy after 1 year praising the Mahatma and the lion, the Mahatma again came to the village and said to Dharamdas that The second well should also be opened, Dharmadas removed the lid, everyone was surprised to see that there was not even a drop of water in the well. If you do it, it dries up and does not come in any use; Knowledge is like water in the mouth and wealth also has three speeds Remain in vain!
