एक बडे नामी आध्यात्मिक गुरु एक राजा की महल में पहुंचे वहां मौजूद किसी भी सिपाही ने गुरु को अंदर जाने से नहीं रोका गुरु सीधा राजा हकीकत में पहुंच गए जहां राजा एक सिंहासन पर बैठा था राजा ने आगंतुक को देखा और उसकी पहचान करते ही उसी से पूछा आप क्या चाहते हैं, मैं इस सराय में सोने के लिए थोड़ी जगह चाहता हूं राजा ने कहा,पर यह तो सराय नहीं है यह मेरा महल है 
 गुरु ने कहा ,क्या मैं यह जान सकता हूं कि आप से पहले इस महल पर किसका हक था राजा ने कहा, मुझसे पहले यह महल मेरे पिता का था, गुरु ने कहा वे अब कहां है ? राजा ने कहा , उनकी मृत्यु हो गई है, गुरु ने कहा, आपके पिता से पहले यह महल किसका था? राजा को थोड़ा झुंझलाहट हुई , पर फिर भी उसने शांति से कहा, मेरे पिता के पिता यानी मेरे दादा जी का यह महल था । और उनकी भी मृत्यु हो चुकी है ,अब गुरु ने कहा, यह जगह ,जहां लोग कुछ समय ही रह पाए । और चले गए तुम कहते हो कि यह सराय नहीं है तो बताओ कि फिर यह क्या है
राजा ने हाथ जोड़ लिया और वह अब अपनी गलती समझ चुका था  ।
